“Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think it’s necessary. Then ask yourself, and yourself alone, one question- Does the path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn’t, it’s of no use.”

~ Carlos Castenada, The teachings of Don Juan.

The above quote reminded me about the two paths- the path of Preyas and the Path of Shreyas.

If I always keep this in my mind and look at important decisions through this lens, it’s very clear and simpler to decide (May not be easy, but surely simple though).

Well! One doesn’t realize how much time one is wasting in indecisiveness. especially regarding trivial matters until one starts to keep track and being vigilant.

So I pretended to be a sentry on the post of decisiveness. I did forget my ‘post’ sometimes but ran to it as soon as I remembered it.

That helped me minimize time in overthinking the sundry. The more I practiced this, the sooner I was able to decide.

Example-There were couple of Indian classical dance events I was attending this week. I just decided to simplify-took one particular indian suit out and just decided to wear it at all 3 events- made life easier though people may have gotten bored seeing me in same clothes! ( does it matter?)

Some decisions were made by coin toss, (as Vivekji had recommended), standing in front of Lord Ganesha.

The moment I realized I’m over-dwelling on something, the sentry chided me; that helped me make decision quickly.

Still so much time is lost in thinking about what to cook, what to eat, what to wear, what to read, what to watch, what to buy, what to say ….. yet all this indecisiveness is due to ones identification with BMI.

I also tried japa at times of indecisiveness and that also helped to focus on task at hand and redirect my mind.

Mastery of the mind is the only gateway to Moksha~ Swami Sivananda
