No Time To Waste

Prince Arjunas questions -Reflection 10
In what ways do you allow yourself to be distracted?
By normalizing distraction -
By assuming that distraction is something I can give in to, by losing control over senses, by being weaker when I know that focus is possible. At work. the flow is busy and I get so engrossed in what I’m doing that there is no Chance of distraction. When I sit every morning for my early morning contemplation, developed over years of steadiness and practice, focus is possible.
Yet, when I come home from work , I allow myself to be distracted in numerous ways- whether it’s watching Queens gambit or Designated survivor, checking mostly useless messages on WhatsApp, scrolling phone, or (over)eating Brie with figs, talking too much or such indulgence. The highlight is that I ALLOW myself these distractions. Conversely I can also DISALLOW my mind, such distractions.
Or I can train myself to transcend such distractions. I CAN!!
At times the panic mode starts- “I’m ‘ wasting’ time”, as I was raised with intense focus of NOT to waste time. In those moments all I want to do is sit at His feet and engage in my Sadhana. All I want to do is to listen to Him. I remind myself the purpose of my existence and all else becomes trivial in face of higher purpose.
Yes time is not linear and in my hand is only this present moment which I can take charge of.
And still I let those moments go to waste which could have been spent in His remembrance, His work.
So I try harder to correct it.
Alas! Sometimes the next day is again the ground hog day.
I reflect that- Any distraction that takes me away from Him is a sin.
I have to keep On trying with my sadhana.
And just to emphasize -
No Time to waste!!!!!!!!!!
