I admit that I did not count the times I did the japa. I most likely belong to the lowest category of seeker. I tried to do japa almost all the time, even doing mundane activities of cooking, cleaning dishwashing.
I also realized that even though initially it seemed mechanical- Om Namah Shivaya, my mind soon would start thinking of Lord Shiva and became more focused. Soon I realized japa was on auto play on my mind. As if the music kept on playing in the background all the time, sometimes I suddenly would become aware of it. And when I was quiet, i could hear it in silence.
