Go dark ! Cover labels
I dare not try it on others. I suggested it to my daughter. She did not want to go to school with tape on her sweater logo. She plainly refused.
My work clothes are without outer labels/logos. So it wasn’t an issue. I did go shopping one time this week — so many labels but if I’d have tried to cover those, they would have thrown me out!
It seemed it was unsuccessful venture.
Nevertheless, I feel that at least it increased my awareness about identification. These labels are what we wrongly presume to define us. The clothing/ apparel/ accessory label is just an outer manifestation of compartmentalism of our minds. A Prada and Chanel bag, Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik shoes, jewelry from Tiffany- all this yet the happiness quotient associated with all that was so temporary. Beyond these designer labels, I identify myself as mother, wife, daughter, sister, Doctor- still labels.
That is not me.
I have forgotten that I’m Brahman. The infinite.
Yet I allow these boundaries of finitude to limit me.
As Swami Chinmayananda said- on understanding the essence of truth in ourselves, we gain freedom from the sense of finitude which was ours so long as we identified ourselves with body mind and intellect.
I travel about the world,
hoping at the end you will show me
my wandering way home~Rumi
