Few things that I have found useful-
1. When you hold onto the higher, you are able to let go of the lower-
In the situations where I have tried and failed, I keep on trying but I also surrender at His feet, holding onto Him. This had helped me become vegetarian 5 years ago. Thanks to His grace after that bharat yatra , the suppression of desire evolved to sublimation
2. Staying in present —
Many times when my mind gets distracted, I try to bring it back to what am I doing, even sometimes mentally I say what I am doing. That brings mind from past and future to that moment.
3. Japa-
When I realize that I may be in a losing battle with my mind, japa chanting always seem to help
4. Not my circus, not my monkeys
I have put this poster in in my office. I try to stay focused on my own work and dharma and try not to get bothered by trivialities surrounding it. My work is my opportunity to serve. Having that clear purpose, my mind doesn’t get agitated by the surrounding drama.
