Contemplate on hands- Reflections

  1. These hands are the ones that cook, clean, drive, write, type, examine patients……and so on. I have been blessed that I have these 2 hands.( the eyes are open)
  2. 2. The rings on my fingers- are they reminder of a bondage or a promise. It’s up to me to decide.( the eyes are open)
  3. 3. The skin is still soft. I have not done any hard labor at all. Even the skin of my children’s hands has roughened a bit due to years of playing tennis. I could have worked harder. Still I could do the best I can with them. The purpose of these hands is to serve in anyway I can. May my hands always be used for the right purpose.( the eyes are open)
  4. 4. The lines on my hands get deeper as I age. May these lines always remind me the lessons I have learnt from this journey that I can use for my evolution.( eyes are open)
  5. 5. As I lift the hands, it’s like in a position for Salah( namaaz). I realized few years ago that my natural instinct is to raise my hands in this position ( as in this RAW), when I’m done with contemplation. My hands always go up like that when I’m alone thinking of Bhagvan. Interestingly It reminded me that when I was a little girl, my mother used to say that I must have been from a Muslim family in my last lifetime. She had spent few years of her own childhood in Pakistan. So when she had me, there was something in my mannerism that reminded her of Islamic culture. Well! Of course I may have been a aleabid or a poojari; it doesn’t matter who I was, when the most important question is — Who am I ? ( as Shree Ramana says). We are trying to get above the labels of religion. It doesn’t matter as long as these hands are raised to pray.( eyes are closed).
  6. 6. I see Lord in these hands and I cry and I’m happy that I have His grace for being able to cry for Him.(eyes are closed)
  7. 7. May these hands always serve and pray.( silence)
